Robert Baumann, Esq.

Robert (Bobby) Baumann, Partner with Ferrone Law Group, joined the firm in 2012 and has been practicing law since 2008. Robert supports the firm through representation of Public Safety Officers in labor issues, workers’ compensation, internal affairs investigations and criminal defense. During his time with the Ferrone Law Group, Robert has handled hundreds of internal affairs investigations, dozens of officer involved shootings and administrative hearings. Robert has successfully overturned dozens of officer terminations at both Skelly Hearings and arbitration hearings. Robert has also successfully argued countless disciplinary appeals. Additionally, Robert has handled numerous criminal defense cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to felony allegations ranging from DUI, workers’ compensation fraud and excessive use of force including a federal jury trial taken to verdict in which a “not guilty” verdict was rendered. Robert’s practice also includes giving general legal advice to Unions on an array of disciplinary issues and conducting training on an array of administrative and criminal issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Robert clerked for the Alternate Public Defender’s office in San Diego, aided in the creation of business organizations, and handled federal criminal defense cases out of the Southern District of California. After law school Robert became an associate attorney handling federal criminal defense cases out of the Southern District of California and later joined the United States Marine Corps in May of 2009 as a Judge Advocate (JAG). While on active duty with the United States Marine Corps, Robert was stationed at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, CA. While in Twentynine Palms, Robert successfully prosecuted numerous misdemeanor and felony cases including multiple criminal jury trials. After completing his time as a prosecutor, Robert became the Civil Law Officer in Charge where he adjudicated citations, housing violations and represented the Government in numerous administrative proceedings. As the Officer in Charge, Robert was also responsible for drafting legal ethics opinions for base Commanders and the Commanding General. Robert left active duty and transitioned to the Reserves in October 2012 where he is still currently serving. Robert received his law degree from the California Western School of Law and passed the bar in 2008. He graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2004.
