Derek Thompson, Esq.

Derek Thompson brings his unique experiences having grown up in a law enforcement family to the Ferrone Law Group (FLG). It is with this insight that he is able to achieve great success representing his clients in Public Safety Labor and Employment matters. Derek represents both the Association, and when necessary, the member, in labor disputes, contract negotiations, and employment litigation. His straightforward approach and no-nonsense style have allowed him to successfully tackle complex issues, enforcing and enhancing the rights of First Responders. His background has given him a unique understanding of the issues public safety personnel face daily, which allows him to put that expertise to good use.

Prior to joining FLG, Derek gained critical experience and unique insight, having worked on both the plaintiff and defense side. He worked for the State of California defending Personal Injury and Employment matters brought against the State. Later, he was privileged to work on Personal Injury and Property Litigation against government entities on behalf of individuals who were harmed. Having worked for and against the government , Mr. Thompson has first-hand experience of how people are ensnared in improper and unfair government action. As a result, he is a strong advocate for Labor and Public Safety.

Derek attended California State University, Northridge, where he studied Psychology and Philosophy. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree, he obtained his Law Degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.
