Kevin Fugate
Kevin has spent 32 years in the Fire Service. He has nearly 20 years of experience in Union Leadership and specializes in contract negotiations, politics, and Labor / Management relations.
He attended Victor Valley College, earning Degrees in Fire Science and Emergency Medicine. He has worked in the field as a certified Paramedic for 32 years, 30 of which were spent in the Fire Service. He worked for the Hesperia Fire Department as a Firefighter / Paramedic for five years, then moved on to the City of Ontario Fire Department, where he retired as a Fire Captain after 25 years of service.
Kevin has dedicated his life to the Labor Movement. His father was a Machinist Union Steward, and Kevin carried on the tradition of protecting workers’ rights in the workplace. He held the position of Vice President for the Hesperia Firefighters Association and saw firsthand at a young age what it was like to fight for proper staffing, wages, firefighters’ rights, and improved working conditions. Kevin served on the Executive Board of the Ontario Professional Firefighters for 13 years. He held the Executive Board positions of Chief Steward and Vice President and served as the President of the Union for seven years before retiring. He is currently an International Association of Firefighters California State Representative and the Labor Representative to the California Joint Apprenticeship Program.
