Off Duty Incidents
Criminal defense representation for public safety usually occurs for off duty incidents. The most common incidents are DUI’s, domestic incidents and any other alcohol related incidents. Despite the incidents occurring off duty, the department can and will still
administratively investigate you for the off duty incident, so it is important to treat any off duty incident as if it had occurred on duty and promptly notify your labor representative and/or attorney given the potential implications, whether administratively or criminally.
On Duty Incidents
Criminal defense representation for on duty incidents are usually related to use of force incidents or misuse of department resources. Like off duty incidents, it is imperative to contact your labor representative and/or attorney for any on duty incident which could have criminal implications. If there is any question whether there are criminal implications or not, it is best to error on the side of caution and notify a representative
immediately and do not make any statements to anyone about the incident in question.
